  • Where are you based?
Morrinsville, Waikato from our home studio. However we can also travel to you for a small travel fee. The travel fee will vary depending on location. Contact us for more info.
  • What do I need to do with my hair before my appointment?
Please ensure you brush your hair and that it is fully detangled before you arrive. Your appointment time does not allow time for this. Please check children’s hair thoroughly for nits. If your child has nits or eggs we will be unable to braid their hair until their hair is clear of both.
  • How long do the braids last?
Dutch Braids & Feed In Braids will generally last at least a week. They will not come out, however you will notice the flyaways start coming through after a few days. Corn rows will last longer. The smaller the braid, the less room for fly aways, the longer they last!
  • Do I wash my hair before braiding?
It’s actually harder for us to braid hair that has just been washed as it is usually very soft and silky. We recommend washing your hair the day or two prior to your appointment.
  • Can I swim with my braids or get them wet?
While the short answer is yes, you can, they won't come out. We always advise our clients to avoid water contact if possible. The outcome varies depending on what braids you have. With our feed in dutch braids, while your braids will stay in even when exposed to water, their life will be shortened as the water will quicken the process of the fly aways / fluffies coming through on either side of the braids. Corn rows are more forgiving as the smaller the braid, the less room for the little fly aways.
  • How can I protect my braids from water exposure?
We suggest showering with a shower cap and swimming with a swimming cap. Note that with a swimming cap you will still see a few fly aways from pulling the cap on and off, but the benefits of doing this will outweigh the few fluffies that may come from the cap.
  • How do I look after my braids?
We recommend sleeping with a satin or silk pillow case at night (Yes, we have some available for purchase in the studio!). This helps reduce friction and fly aways when sleeping. In the mornings, we recommend gelling any loose hair down with gel or a gel wand, and using the pointy end of a comb to tuck in any hair as needed. Hair spray also helps.
  • What is the minimum age your will braid for children?
We braid children aged 3 and up. This is providing our under 5’s are able to sit still for their appointment. We will discuss this with you if your child is under 5 prior to booking the appointment.
  • How many people can you braid at braid parties?
There is no limit on how many we can braid. However we charge per hour so recommend contacting us prior to discuss options on how we can tailor the party to suit your budget.
  • Do you have products for sale?
Yes! We have a variety of hair clips, scrunchies, satin pillow cases, satin hair bonnets and coloured extensions available for purchase in the studio. Contact us for pricing and availability of products.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Please notify us at least 24 hours prior if you are no longer able to make your appointment. If we do not receive notification that you are unable to make it, and you do not show for your appointment, you will still be expected to pay for the booking in full. We understand emergencies happen, please communicate to us and we will do our best to accommodate.
